10 Moving Tips

“If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet…”

– Rachel Wolchin

Tips to help you prepare for your next move!

1. If possible, take photos and measurements of your new home so that you can plan the layout before the big day.

2. Reach out to all your utility and service providers and change your address.

3. Contact the post office to have all your mail forwarded to your new address.

4. Always give yourself more time than you need to prepare and pack.

5. Start packing the least-used items first; think seasonal, back stock, etc.

6. Declutter as you go! Use this as an opportunity to let go.

7. Pack the items room by room and clearly label where they came from on the side of the box.

8. Below the room label, briefly list what items are packed in each box.

9. Create a “Day Of” box that you pack the morning of your move. (Think coffee maker, medications, toiletries, etc.) This is also the box you will unpack first.

10. Keep a cooler handy to transport food from your fridge and freezer. Take this and any high-value items, such as expensive jewellery, with you in your car.

Bonus Tip - Use actual packing paper. The cost of paper is cheap, breakage is not!
